Luca learns a new physiotherapy move!

After months of trying to get rescued moon bear Luca to stretch his neck, his carers were left scratching their heads…

Our Vietnam sanctuary bear care team had been trying different things to get rescued moon  bear Luca to rotate his head up and down, and left to right, like we do when we’re stretching our necks. ⁠ ⁠

They’d tried a few things which weren’t quite working and the team was a bit stumped.⁠ ⁠

Then one day vet Rachel noticed Jonathan playing with a ball and bungee in his enclosure doing exactly the movement we needed Luca to do!⁠ ⁠ So Rachel told Hiep who is managing Luca’s physiotherapy and he tried it in Luca’s next physiotherapy session.⁠ ⁠

And, bingo! Luca not only had a really fun session trying to sniff out the yummy treats in the ball, his body got exactly the workout it needed to stay agile and healthy.⁠
