About us

Kindness in Action: Because it’s their world too

Founded in 1998 by Jill Robinson MBE, the world’s leading authority on bear bile farming, Animals Asia has been changing the world for animals for over two decades. Based in Hong Kong, we work across Asia to replace cruelty with compassion and create lasting change.

We’re widely known for our work in ending the bear bile farming industry in Vietnam. We’ve rescued more than 700 bears from unimaginable suffering and care for them for the rest of their lives at our award-winning sanctuaries in China and Vietnam.

We also work to end the dog and cat meat trade, improve the welfare of companion animals, and campaign for better conditions for captive wildlife in zoos and safari parks. Through partnerships with governments, NGOs, veterinarians, educators and communities across Asia, we promote humane animal management, provide training and education, and help build a stronger animal welfare movement throughout the region.

Today, Animals Asia is the largest animal protection charity working in Asia, and we remain committed to driving long-term, compassionate and collaborative change for animals.
