China bear rescue: Two precious young gifts for Christmas

Two young moon bears have arrived safely at the China Bear Rescue Centre, after a long trip from the mountainous region of Yibin county. The pair were recently confiscated by the Sichuan Forestry Department from local villagers, who found them in the wild nearly two years ago.

Improving captive animal welfare - Animals Asia facilitates advanced veterinary learning

Senior vets from zoos across China gathered at Beijing Zoo for a seminar on advanced specialist veterinary techniques to improve animal welfare. The seminar, held on 17-19 September 2012, saw an elite group of 30 of the best of China’s zoo vets coming together to improve their knowledge and the standard of veterinary care they can offer at their zoos.

Moon bear cubs rescued from smugglers

Two small moon bear cubs, confiscated from smugglers in North Vietnam, were rescued by our Vietnam team and successfully transported home to our Moon Bear Rescue Centre at Tam Dao National Park.
