"Cages of Shame" Saskatoon screening

Event Progress

On Wednesday, October 9, 2013 Animals Asia volunteer Kent O’grady presented a free screening of the Animals Asia documentary “Cages of Shame” at the Frances Morrison Library in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The compelling film tells the remarkable true story of the rescue of 10 bears from the last bile farm in Shandong Province, China—and the 1,500 mile journey to their new home, Animals Asia’s placid sanctuary in Chengdu. Directed by Martin Guinness and narrated by Emmy Award-winning actor Peter Coyote, "Cages of Shame" presents gripping insight into Animals Asia’s work to put an end to bile farming, and help bears who have formerly lived an excruciating existence being farmed for their bile.

The free event featured an introduction by librarian Yvonne Siermachesky, with audience-members expressing their enthusiasm to get involved in helping the bears.
