Some good news from Chengdu!

Our rescue centre General Manager, Toby Zhang, and I had a very successful meeting with the head of the Wildlife Protection Department under the Sichuan Forestry, Madam Xiong Beirong on Wednesday, 29 October. Madam Xiong (which incidentally means “Madam Bear” in Chinese) says she shares our concerns about health issues arising from contaminants in bear bile. She also proposed an initiative to work with us to end the use of wild animals in traditional Chinese medicine and told us there was a good chance we will receive more farmed bears early next year.
