Our friends in the Philippines

14 November 2013

Following the devastation caused by typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines we have been contacted with questions as to how supporters can assist.

Animals Asia has a long-standing relationship with the much-respected Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and following Yolanda (as the typhoon is known in the Philippines) we have been able to make contact.

Thankfully, PAWS' headquarters and animal shelter in Manilla were unaffected. Now, working with local NGOS, their team is headed out to one of the worst affected areas to assess how best they can assist both people and animals.

Animals Asia founder Jill Robinson said:

“We watched with relief as Haiyan changed direction away from Vietnam meaning our bears and staff were safe but it was with a heavy heart knowing the damage that had already been sustained in the Philippines.  Our thoughts are with all those affected by the typhoon and with those working hard to bring assistance.”

If you would like to donate towards PAWS you can do so here.
