Rescued moon bears reveal their favourite sanctuary hideaways

A bear take a nap on the tiny fall

Each of the nearly 400 rescued bears at Animals Asia’s sanctuaries has their own favourite place to while away happy days. Here are some of the sweetest.

We’ve all got a special place. Somewhere we feel safe, where we go to think, enjoy the view, or just spend a quiet moment. Moon bears are no different, and some of their favourite places are pretty special.

Taurus enjoys the view

Moon bear Taurus likes to enjoy the view. He climbs a specially constructed a-frame and plants his beautiful bear bottom on the conveniently placed platform made from a soft old tyre. From here he can rest his head on the wooden frame and enjoy breath-taking views of the national park which surrounds the sanctuary.

Murphy under hammock

Sun bear Murphy on the other hand, likes to feel the grass on his back. On particularly sunny autumn days he can be found lounging under his fire-hose hammock, enjoying the shade and the tactile sensations of earth and grass.

Bears in the pool 2

These two moon bears are enjoying time together in the large pool of their enclosure. The bears’ enclosures are so large that everyone has enough space and the freedom to do as they please. While two splash in the pool, a third bear rests against a nearby rock and enjoys the sun on his face.

Maggie smiling with tree root

Maggie’s special place is her enclosure’s dry tree root. She can use it to scratch an itch, enjoy the scent of the wood and test her strength by clawing at the dry fibres. And on certain days like this one, she might just give it a little hug too.

We hope you find your special place this #MoonBearMonday.
