Dr Dogs from Guangzhou joined Guangzhou’s first Cat Show on 4-5 of August in the Baiyun Wanda Plaza. It was actually a party for the cat-lovers with over 200,000 people joining the 2-day event.

The hall was separated into two sections - one was for the cat show and the other for local animal welfare groups. Animals Asia, Pamily (for stray dogs) and Guangzhou Cat had set up booths to attract visitors.

We offered two entertaining games: “Paws graffiti” (graffiti of cat faces and dog paws on people’s arms or faces) and “Painting for a cat” (paint the cat sticker). The colorful graffiti proved to be a great attraction, especially for young people and also many parents came to our painting table with their children. This was a wonderful opportunity to reach out to a different group of people and introduce Animals Asia’s programmes to them.

Eight of our Dr Dogs took turns to be “guests” at the show. Dr Duoduo, a mini Chihuahua with long hair, soon became the centre of attraction with many new “fans”. Duoduo’s guardian, Ms Huang, introduced this little one to a lot of new friends with our animal welfare leaflets. Dr Jimmy, the star of our Guangzhou team is well used to the spotlight, as he’s been on TV several times already. Dr Didi and Dr Chen Baobao were invited by the MC on the stage to show the friendliness of Dr Dog and to welcome more friends to join us for a better life for the animals.

Overall, this was a very successful event, showcasing our Dr Dog programme and introducing Animals Asia to a huge new audience. Thanks as always, to our wonderful volunteers and their equally-wonderful Dr Dogs.
