Il nostro santuario a Tam Dao non è solo un luogo sicuro, è un progetto per un futuro migliore

Adagiato nella valle del Parco Nazionale di Tam Dao, il primo santuario che abbiamo costruito in Vietnam offre una casa tranquilla e protetta a circa 200 orsi della luna e del sole salvati dalla brutale industria della bile di orso.

Sviluppandosi su una superficie di 11 ettari di paesaggio montano, il santuario offre agli orsi spazio per muoversi liberamente, giocare e guarire. Dai cuccioli malnutriti agli anziani sopravvissuti alle fattorie della bile, gli orsi ricevono cure esperte e personalizzate e la dignità che hanno sempre meritato.

Ricostruiamo corpi e cuori spezzati

I nuovi arrivati vengono inizialmente sistemati in un’area per la quarantena e monitorati in unità appositamente costruite prima di unirsi alla più ampia comunità degli orsi residenti. Quelli che si stanno riprendendo da un intervento chirurgico o da una malattia sono curati all’interno del nostro ospedale veterinario, situato all’interno del santuario.

Le case per gli orsi si aprono su grandi aree verdi all’aperto, progettate per stimolare comportamenti naturali come arrampicarsi, nuotare e fare foraging, mentre la nostra casa per i cuccioli favorisce lo sviluppo sano dei giovani orsi salvati dal traffico illegale di animali selvatici.

Qualche dato sul nostro santuario di Tam Dao

  • Situato nel Parco Nazionale di Tam Dao, nel nord del Vietnam
  • Ospita orsi della luna, orsi del sole, e cuccioli d’orso salvati dal traffico illegale
  • Conta 6 case per gli orsi con ampie tane
  • Estese aree verdi esterne, con alberi e piscine 
  • È dotato di strutture veterinarie all’avanguardia 
  • Vanta una casa costruita su misura per i cuccioli, con un’area esterna dedicata
  • Ogni giorno vengono puliti e riutilizzati 70.000 litri di acque reflue
  • Vi lavorano circa 90 persone: veterinari, addetti agli orsi, giardinieri, amministrazione, e molto di più
  • Vi sono spazi dedicati e separati per gli orsi della luna e gli orsi del sole che abbiamo salvato

Creiamo il cambiamento attraverso la formazione

Sebbene il santuario non sia normalmente aperto al pubblico, offriamo comunque visite guidate per piccoli gruppi due volte al mese.

Organizziamo anche laboratori e sessioni di sensibilizzazione con scuole e università, per ispirare le nuove generazioni ad apprezzare gli animali e l’ambiente. Queste attività stanno contribuendo a modificare l’atteggiamento dell’opinione pubblica e a creare un cambiamento duraturo in tutto il Vietnam.

David, un orso labiato salvato, ha superato crudeltà e l’amputazione di una zampa. Oggi vive sereno, circondato da amore, cure e amicizie per la vita nel nostro santuario di Tam Dao.
