Momentum is building behind Animals Asia’s campaign to end bear bile farming as celebrities and animal lovers continue to pledge their support.

“Let a Bear Sh!t in the Woods” is Animals Asia’s cheekiest awareness raising campaign to date and has struck a chord with animal lovers across the world

The latest star to pledge was comedian Ricky Gervais who tweeted a picture of himself in the campaign t-shirt to 6 million twitter followers. A day earlier actress Liv Tyler also called on fans to support the campaign.

They join the likes of Animals Asia ambassador and actor Peter Egan, “Lost” and “The Vampire Diaries” star Ian Somerhalder, “True Blood"’s Kristen Bauer Von Straten, the Twilight Saga’s Kellan Lutz, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician Matt Sorum and comedy legend Ben Elton.

Also calling on followers via Twitter were respected activists Bianca Jagger and Peter Tatchell.

Meanwhile Gillian Anderson was so moved by the bears’ plight that she used her birthday to ask friends and fans to sign the pledge “instead of gifts”.

Over 10,000 people have pledged their support for the fight to end bear bile farming and let bears go where nature intended with campaign organisers confident the numbers will increase significantly.

Alongside signing the pledge, supporters are encouraged to post pictures of themselves on social media wearing their campaign t-shirts in order to spread the word.
