Most of you know how amazing and supportive our Asia Patron, Karen Mok Man Wai, and her whole family, are to Animals Asia and the bears, dogs and cats across Asia, but Karen took her patronage to a whole new level this week when she held a concert in China and proudly featured our bears!
Karen had been with us on site at our bear sanctuary in Chengdu the week before, meeting up again with her beautiful bear, Bao Bei, meeting our Dr Dog volunteers and canine ambassadors, and delighting all of our staff.
Accompanying Karen on site was famous wildlife photographer Xi Zhinong who was making his first visit to the sanctuary. The devoted animal campaigner, known for highlighting the plight of endangered species such as the Tonkin Snub-nosed monkey and the Tibetan antelope, was shocked to learn of the conditions suffered by bears on bile farms and spent several hours with Karen learning about their plight.
A tireless campaigner and true star in every sense of the word, Karen even found time to record some messages in Chinese and English to celebrate our Peace by Piece Campaign and the forthcoming Nanning Rescue. Karen is one of the world's most popular social media stars, with an unprecedented 38 million followers and her messages are now making their way around social media in China and beyond!
On Friday night Karen took to the stage and sang her beautifully created song "Bao Bei", to a rapt audience, including some of our thrilled and delighted staff.
Karen, thank you from us all for being such an amazing woman, superstar and animal defender......you rocked the stage for the bears. Our love and admiration to you.
