Our Ambassador’s 'First Love'

Our fabulous UK Ambassador, actor Peter Egan, does us proud by saying that his ambassadorial role with Animals Asia is his favourite role to date – and we hope it’ll be his longest role too!

However, Peter is now undeniably preparing to face one of the most challenging roles of his life when he takes the stage alone at the Edinburgh Festival in an intense, monologue version of Samuel Beckett’s short story “First Love”.

Written in 1946, this “darkly comic story that explores how love fails us and how we fail love” has been adapted for stage by Michael Colgan. Following Peter’s wonderful performance in Alan Bennett’s “People” at The National Theatre in London, the complicated, fascinating, bleakly emotional lyrical piece runs for 4 nights – 28 to 31 August – and promises to be a show to remember.

Peter, all of us in the Animals Asia team wish you the greatest success in taking on such a complex, demanding part – and send bear hugs from your very own Peter Bear and friends. We know that you will do Samuel Beckett proud.
