Hong Kong’s prestigious golf club is set to host a day of glamour, golf, fun and prizes to raise much-needed funds to help end animal cruelty.

The second Animals Asia Charity Golf Tournament has been announced with a slew of big name players.

Asian tour pros Khor Kheng Hwai from Malaysia, Amolkan Phalajivin from Thailand, and Choo Tze Huang from Singapore have signed up, while former Hong Kong and Macau Ladies Open Champion Eva Yoe and her sister, former Hong Kong Junior Champion Lyra Yoe, will also be present.

The event will take place on May 23 at the Hong Kong Golf Club, the city’s oldest course and host of the Hong Kong Open.

Animals Asia Founder and CEO Jill Robinson MBE, who will be attending the event, said:

“We’ve got some huge names from the Asian golf scene attending this year and everyone will be ready to have some fun out on the course.

“Last year was such a good day out. The pros are more than happy to offer tips to those who can’t boast single figure handicaps and the chance to beat one of them at the “Beat the Pros” is too irresistible not to at least try! I can’t wait.”

Of course, the event is all for a good cause with proceeds going towards Animals Asia’s China and Vietnam sanctuaries, where hundreds of bears are rehabilitated after being rescued from extreme cruelty – and the organisation’s wider work to end animal abuse in Asia.

After the tournament, all the players will enjoy a buffet dinner hosted by sports commentator Kate Burton as emcee.

The inaugural Animals Asia Golf Day in 2017 raised an astonishing HKD 248,125 for Animals Asia, a sum the charity hopes to exceed in 2018.

Last year’s championship was won by Norton Fung, an amateur golfer and long-time supporter of Animals Asia who returns in 2018 to defend his title.
