The terrible tragedy surrounding Andrea Papi of Italy who was mauled by a bear earlier this month while running on a path near his village exposes the fact that our relentless urbanisation and recreational incursions into the natural habitat of wild species is increasingly endangering the lives of humans and animals alike.
Animal welfare organisation Animals Asia has rescued two moon bears from a bile farm in Vietnam today. The rescue team arrived early this morning local time at the bile farm in Phu Tho, just 65km from Animals Asia’s Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre in Tam Dao.
With Covid-19 travel restrictions within Vietnam lifted slightly, Animals Asia’s rescue team have swung into action to rescue three bears from Nam Dinh province, just over four hours’ drive from their Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre in Tam Dao.
