years ago this April, Jill Robinson first walked onto a bear bile farm. On that day in April 1993, Jill could have walked away, but she chose to act and do what she could. Today, you also have a choice. If everyone reading this donated just US$20, it would pay for the care of over 150 bears at our China sanctuary for a full year. Please help us celebrate 20 years of progress. Donate US$20 today (or whatever you can afford).
New York Animals Asia was the toast of the town at a Costume Party recently held at O'Hanlon's in Manhattan and hosted by Aadvark Brigade, a New York based web design firm owned by Mike Calamusa and Todd Ryan. Mike’s wife Amy Snyder is a long time Animals Asia supporter who realized that the company’s Costume Party was the perfect venue to educate people about our work. The party included a raffle to raise much needed funds for our beautiful bears and the owners of the pub even threw in a free keg of beer as a prize! Cheers and many thanks to Amy and everyone at Aardvark Brigade for helping us spread the word in New York.
San Francisco On the other side of the country, west coast supporter Dianna Devore was the life of the party when she hosted an event for Animals Asia at her gorgeous three story loft in San Francisco. Dianna and co-host Billy the dog (a beautiful rescued retriever) opened their home to Animals Asia supporters as well as those new to our work. The Mexican-themed party started off with a moving presentation and slide show given by our very own US Director, Alice Ng, and ended with Dianna subtly directing the guests towards the Animals Asia donation boxes strategically placed near the door. Our sombreros are off to Dianna for hosting this fabulous fiesta!
Marin County Meanwhile on the other side of the bay, Marin County, California Supporters Carol Misseldine and Charles McGlashan hosted a soiree of their own at the beautiful home of friends Jonathan Frieman and Moira Brennan. This party also featured a presentation by Alice Ng as well as scrumptious organic catering and delicious wines. Guests included local government officials and animal welfare professionals as well as many who were learning about our work for the very first time.
The three parties brought in over $5,000 for our programs and even more importantly, raised much needed awareness of our work. A huge thank you to everybody for your wonderful support.
