Animals Asia Foundation is seeking a Web Designer to be fully responsible for the layout, visual appearance, usability and ongoing development of Animals Asia's English and language websites.
Animals Asia is devoted to the welfare of wild and urban animals in Asia. We have three flagship programmes: End Bear Farming, Cat and Dog Welfare and Action against Cruelty. Under these, we have many campaigns, including the Moon Bear Rescue aimed at bringing the barbaric practice of bear farming and the bile trade to an end. We also campaign to end the dog and cat meat trade, in addition to implementing sustainable change in animal welfare standards across China.
Animals Asia is an Asian-focused registered charity with headquarters in Hong Kong and offices in Australia, China, Germany, Italy, the UK and USA, as well as Moon Bear Rescue Centres in China and Vietnam. We have close to 305 staff worldwide.
Planning, design and development for Animals Asia's English and language websites
Implement website updates on a regular basis
Help guide the development of Animals Asia's new website providing design and technical guidance
Provide input for ongoing upgrades to ensure the websites continue to be visually appealing, effective and user friendly
Constantly stay abreast of new developments in graphics software packages as well as those in the World Wide Web, Social Media and related technologies
Work hands on in the development of web applications – Flash, XML-based web applications and programming, HTML and XHTML programming and CSS
Determine all coding requirements for site creation including: e-commerce capability, forms and specialized scripts
Create and edit graphics and footage for website use
Work closely with Animals Asia's Art Director in the design of the website and Programmers in implementing the sites
Reports to International Fundraising and Marketing Director
Bachelors degree or Diploma in Graphic, Multimedia Design or related field
At least 3 years working experience in website design for a charity or company
Proficiency in Flash, CSS and HTML is essential
Must be familiar with Windows and Macintosh operating systems and FTP environment
Proficiency in Final Cut Pro preferable but not essential
An understanding of e-commerce would be an advantage
Creative, out of the box thinker with a good understanding of digital media
Ability to work in a team as well as independently
Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese) is a must
