Volunteer groups are the main fundraising arm for Animals Asia around the world and a wonderful means for connecting us with local communities.
Our first US Volunteer Group was begun by Lisa Vondle of San Diego. When in Guangzhou adopting a baby girl, Lisa read an article about Animals Asia's work in a regional newspaper and was heartsick to discover the extent of dog and cat slaughter in China. She called the Animals Asia Hong Kong office asking how she could help and we suggested that she get involved with community outreach once back home. On her return to California, Lisa immediately set about organizing a group which began by promoting Animals Asia at local Chinese New Year and Earth Day celebrations.
Since then, our Volunteer Group program has expanded in the US and on into Canada. Volunteer Groups help spread the word about Animals Asia's work at festivals, schools and through community events and help raise much needed funds for our projects in Asia by organizing everything from bake sales to gala events.
