Twelve-year-old Phoebe Jawett has raised a fantastic £805 for the moon bears (exceeding her target of £700) walking with her sister Lucy, (who was raising funds for Children with Leukaemia), from Mill Hill to Hamleys Toy Shop in central London, on the 2 May. We thought we’d leave it to Phoebe and Lucy to report back on their walk …
“We left our house at 10.30 am and Daddy had been told of a very nice walk to Holders Hill roundabout via an old railway track. Unfortunately for us he took the wrong entrance and we walked around a football pitch for 20 minutes only to end up where we began -silly Dad. Not a great start but we found the right entrance and the route was great.
We carried on into Hampstead and were getting a bit tired so we headed towards The Bull and Bush Pub for lunch. No better remedy for tired legs then a beer and a burger/pizza. Only Mum and Dad put a stop to the beer bit - boring! After lunch we headed on towards Regents Park and that is when the iPods came out. So Daddy and Phoebe were sharing and singing along to Glee and Lucy and Mummy sang to Lady Gaga. It all started going wrong when Mummy and Daddy Sang and danced to Bruce Springsteen ... they are so embarrassing, these parents!
We headed into Regents Park and took a short break as we were really suffering a bit now. As it wasn’t far to go, we carried on knowing that Hamleys was only 30 minutes away. Well, we made a full recovery when we saw the flags of Hamleys and headed straight for the sweet shop. Phoebe got a tube filled with all different flavours of sherbet that was nearly as tall as her and Lucy got a big bag of nearly every flavour of Jelly Belly bean ever invented! Just in case you were wondering the whole walk, including stops took just over six hours. The whole day was brilliant and although even our blisters are aching a bit today we would do it again in a shot.”
It’s not too late to add to Phoebe’s total, she can be sponsored at www.justgiving.com/Phoebe-Jawett
