In many countries, companion animals are much more than our best friends – they are part of the family. Sadly, this is not the case for millions of dogs and cats throughout China, where their lives and fate are much different. Bred in their thousands as livestock, raised in appalling conditions with no veterinary care, no free access to food and water, packed dozens to a cage and transported in filthy conditions to be slaughtered in the most vile and painful ways imaginable, the dogs and cats of China need your help!
“Champion for Change” is a monthly donation pro-gramme that gives you the opportunity to help support our community based projects in China. The aim of these projects is to affect long term change from within and eventually end the torture and killing of dogs and cats for food. Attitudes are changing in China as more and more people keep pets and are becoming aware of animal welfare.
Our education and outreach projects include Dr. Dog – animal therapy dogs who visit people in need in hospitals, schools and orphanages; Professor Paws – tail wagging professors who teach underprivileged children English while instilling love and respect of animals; we work with local animal welfare groups, communities and local authorities in changing long-held attitudes and empowering people to affect change and stop the brutal treatment of dogs and cats. Your support as a “Champion for Change” will help us to keep the momentum going through these ever expanding projects.
As a “Champion for Change” you will receive a specially designed certificate of support along with a photo of Eddie – rescued from a market in China, Eddie is now our poster boy Dr. Dog who proves over and over again that these companion animals are our invaluable friends and helpers – not food.
