On 6th September, Monique Deeben will commence her 28 day cycle adventure across the Tibetan plateau to the Everest Base Camp to raise money to rescue her very own Moon Bear.
In training since October last year, Monique has traversed the streets of Sydney in preparation for her biggest challenge yet – cycling 1140kms in 19 days at altitudes exceeding 5000m. Eleven of the 19 nights will be spent camping out – the rest in hotels and guest houses, not most people’s idea of a relaxing holiday but Monique is determined to break out of her comfort zone and do something she’s never done before and all for a good cause….our lovely bears. When Monique is not cycling the hills of Sydney , she does a variety of other training activity such as boxing and running for overall fitness in preparation for her trip . If you are interested, you can keep track of Monique’s training and travels via her blog and even make your own donation to her campaign.
Bon voyage and best of luck Monique!
