years ago this April, Jill Robinson first walked onto a bear bile farm. On that day in April 1993, Jill could have walked away, but she chose to act and do what she could. Today, you also have a choice. If everyone reading this donated just US$20, it would pay for the care of over 150 bears at our China sanctuary for a full year. Please help us celebrate 20 years of progress. Donate US$20 today (or whatever you can afford).
New messages from Karen Mok on behalf of the bears July 2010
Superstar Karen is one of our strongest supporters and continues to do all she can to help end bear farming. Touched by the plight of the bears when she first learnt about it several years ago, Karen's first course of action was to make a short film for public distribution to highlight the atrocity of bile farming.
With multiple projects and publicity for the Moon Bear Rescue over the years, Karen has recently filmed two striking new announcements - powerful statements of fact that fly in the face of the mis-held beliefs that bear bile is necessary or indeed safe.
Stain - the title of the first 60-second announcement, produced in Mandarin and English, likens the intelligence of moon bears to that of a child and calls for empathy from viewers to support Animals Asia in their campaign to end bear farming. This message is intended to raise awareness of the plight of these beautiful bears, and will be distributed across Asia.
Poison - this second announcement is targeted at users that consume bear bile and highlights the potential health risks of taking bile that is contaminated. This has also been produced in Mandarin and English and has already been launched in China.

"Iím glad to have the opportunity to give the animals of Asia a voice by spreading the word that they deserve to live in a world without fear or suffering" said Karen. "We can all help the thousands of bears suffering on farms throughout Asia by spreading the word about Animals Asiaís work and the terrible cruelty of the bile industry."
At the launch of Stain in Hong Kong on 29 July, Jill Robinson, Founder and CEO of Animals Asia announced Karen's further involvement. "Karen is a wonderful ambassador for the moon bears and we are delighted that she has just agreed to become our Patron. Thanks to Karen for once again coming to the bears' aid and raising the profile of the rescue project worldwide."
