years ago this April, Jill Robinson first walked onto a bear bile farm. On that day in April 1993, Jill could have walked away, but she chose to act and do what she could. Today, you also have a choice. If everyone reading this donated just US$20, it would pay for the care of over 150 bears at our China sanctuary for a full year. Please help us celebrate 20 years of progress. Donate US$20 today (or whatever you can afford).
Professor Macintosh at Ma On Shan Ling Liang Primary School
We’re sad to announce that we saw two dogs retire from the Dr Dog and Professor Paws programmes this year.
Vegas and Carrie Sung had been dedicated volunteers visiting schools, hospitals and elderly care centres for just over seven years. Vegas’ tail would never stop wagging and there is no doubt she brought joy to everyone around her. We loved teaching Professor Paws lessons with Vegas because she would never be shy to start ‘singing’ whenever she felt she wasn’t being given enough attention by the children!
Mackintosh and Sandy Fournier had been coming on visits for five years. You would not be able to walk past Mackintosh without doing a double-take. Being a Bearded Collie, Mackintosh, aka Mac, had fur down to the floor and it always amused children when they found out they would be responsible for brushing her!
Both Vegas and Mackintosh are in good health, and just need a little calm and rest as they both grow older…. basically, they have become canine ‘Tai Tai’s’!
