years ago this April, Jill Robinson first walked onto a bear bile farm. On that day in April 1993, Jill could have walked away, but she chose to act and do what she could. Today, you also have a choice. If everyone reading this donated just US$20, it would pay for the care of over 150 bears at our China sanctuary for a full year. Please help us celebrate 20 years of progress. Donate US$20 today (or whatever you can afford).
Australian Celebrity Chef Simon Bryant has launched two special recipes to mark the beginning of Honey Money Days this month. Simon's recipes are both based on a bear's favourite food - honey! One is a divine honey crème brulee and the other a classic baklava with honey syrup - yum!
"The brulee is a deliciously creamy honey recipe that relies for its success on the choice of ethical ingredients, such as free-range eggs and real 100 per cent Australian honey" Simon said.
"It is a recipe to celebrate the bears' freedom after their incarceration on these cruel, primitive bear farms," he said.
Simon, Hilton Adelaide’s executive chef and co-presenter of the ABC's "The Cook and the Chef", joined Animals Asia Foundation as Honey Money Days ambassador to support our work not only with bears, but also our campaign to stop dog and cat eating in Asia.
Honey Money Days runs throughout August and September and encourages people to hold an event at home, such as a dinner party, garage sale, after-work drinks or movie night, to raise money for Animals Asia.
Animals Asia founder and CEO, Jill Robinson, said: " We're really excited to have Simon on board - it means so much to us at the sanctuary here in China that he's taking the time to make life sweeter for previously farmed bears. I'm sure Simon's involvement will encourage our Aussie supporters to start planning some fantastic events - it could be the perfect excuse to try out Simon's special honey crème brulee recipe or that wonderful baklava!
