years ago this April, Jill Robinson first walked onto a bear bile farm. On that day in April 1993, Jill could have walked away, but she chose to act and do what she could. Today, you also have a choice. If everyone reading this donated just US$20, it would pay for the care of over 150 bears at our China sanctuary for a full year. Please help us celebrate 20 years of progress. Donate US$20 today (or whatever you can afford).
Swindon based Animals Asia supporter Leon Moore pulls out all the stops for moon bears.
Leon pushed himself to the pain barrier and beyond on Friday, 13th June 2008 by undertaking a sponsored Iron Man event at Cannons Gym, Swindon. Leon swam 200 lengths of the pool, ran a half marathon, cycled 50 miles and then finished with 200 sit ups. All of this in front of AAF Founder Jill Robinson MBE and our very own ‘Moonie’ bear cheering him on all the way.
Leon explained his commitment to helping the bears saying,
“The pain I have endured during this Iron Man event lasted only a few hours. The pain the bears endure in the bile extraction process where they are kept in coffin sized cages, unable to move or turn around, lasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week for anything up to 25 years. I felt this was the very least I could do”.
Leon has raised over £4000 for the bears through such sponsored events
