Special thanks to the many who have helped Animals Asia
Heartfelt thanks to our many supporters throughout the world who have enabled us to help the animals in Asia - below are listed just a few that we would like to extend our special thanks to for their wonderful generosity.
Andrea Haufe in Germany, an incredibly talented artist who for the past few years has organised high profile and hugely successful art auctions, that have raised phenomenal sums of money for our bears. Please see Andrea's fabulous work at: www.haufe-collection.de
Our heartfelt thanks to Professor Peter Li, Social Sciences Department, Houston University-Downtown, in the USA who has given so much of his time and influence in our China Bear Rescue. Peter's academic promotion of our work is now being read far and wide through his papers which raise awareness both in China and internationally, and move us even closer in our goal of ending bear farming in Asia.
Artist Michael Carey in USA: Mike very generously drew the lovely picture of "Rosie" that has raised lots of money all over the world - the original was auctioned at the Wiesbaden auction in 2002 and since then 'her' print has been auctioned at events around the world, raising wonderful amounts of money for all the bears. Huge thank yous to Philip Wollen in Australia who has so generously supported the China Bear Rescue for years. Founder of the Winsome Constance Kindness Trust, Philip has helped the bears financially, and through his recent book "Tell Me.....and Tell Me the Truth - The True Story of the China Moon Bears, still Crying for Freedom". The book, using powerful pictures of the Animals Asia China Bear Rescue, is a plea to Nelson Mandela - who, like the bears, spent 26 years in a steel prison - to use his influence with China President Hu Jintao to end bear farming once and for all.
Heartfelt thanks to Hong Kong Legislator and member of China's National People's Congress,
Dr. David Chu Yu Lin, for his tireless efforts speaking out on behalf of the animals of Asia. David has led the fight on so many issues - from calling for the closure of the cruel live animal markets, lobbying for an end in the dog and cat consumption trade, and calling for all bear farms in Asia to close. David was recently the very deserving recipient of our annual Animal Ambassador Award and, on behalf of the wild, domestic and endangered species he represents, we send grateful thanks to him for being the voice of the voiceless in Asia.
A special thank you from all in the Animals Asia team to the Schad Foundation of Canada for their very generous donation to the China Bear Rescue. We recently had the honour of hosting President and CEO, Robert Schad, and Marcus Sutch (of Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd) at our Sanctuary in Chengdu and were able to show them how much of a difference their faith and funding of our work has made.
Grateful thanks to Henry Patton for his inspirational painting of beloved "Jasper" which was made into delightful Christmas cards and notelets for all to enjoy! This was Henry's reaction to first seeing a picture of Jasper: "When I saw his photo it was like I had known him always, I felt an immediate connection to him. I was pulled in through his eyes and the painting seemed to magically flow from my brush onto the paper. The result was a bear painting like none I have ever done before."
