Hundreds attend local screenings of "Cages of Shame"
Animals Asia Ambassador Peter Northcote with Siaw-Yean Sy Woon (President of the Sydney University Animal Welfare Society), Virginia Lillye and Bobby Poulton.
Thank you to everyone who came along to one of our screenings of Cages of Shame across Australia and New Zealand in April. We had a great turn out in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide and it was wonderful to see new supporters in Hobart, Darwin and Auckland.
Cages of Shame tells the story of ten bears rescued from the last bear farm in Shandong Province and while it does show the harsh reality of bear farming, it also highlights what an incredible job the Animals Asia team is doing in China and the high standard of care our bears receive.
Congratulations to filmmaker Martin Guinness for directing Cages of Shame which won the coveted HSUS ACE Documentary Grant for 2011.
Special thanks to Angie Stephenson of Funky Pies for donating her delicious vegan pies to our Sydney event and to Peter Northcote, Virginia Lillye (recently seen on The Voice) and Bobby Poulton (pictured) who performed their beautiful rendition of "Don't Give Up" with Brydon Stace - a taste of what's to come at this year's "Bands for Bears II" on June 4th.
