years ago this April, Jill Robinson first walked onto a bear bile farm. On that day in April 1993, Jill could have walked away, but she chose to act and do what she could. Today, you also have a choice. If everyone reading this donated just US$20, it would pay for the care of over 150 bears at our China sanctuary for a full year. Please help us celebrate 20 years of progress. Donate US$20 today (or whatever you can afford).
We would like to extend a HUGE thank you on behalf of all of our rescued bears in both China and Vietnam, as well as the whole Animals Asia team for the work of our fabulous ‘Moon Bear Rescue’ West Somerset support group in the UK.
Lee Gibbins leads the Moon Bear Rescue support group based in Holford, Somerset. Lee and members of the group have been fundraising on behalf of the bears for over 7 years and have now raised in excess of a staggering £200,000.
The fundraising events organised by Lee and the Moon Bear Rescue volunteers range from Awareness Stalls in Taunton Town Centre through to a Grand Art Auction, raising over £7,000, organised in the Great Hall of the prestigious Queens College in Taunton. In addition, the group organize an annual sponsored walk on the beautiful Quantock Hills which raises over £10,000 per year.
Lee’s work for the bears has been tireless and she and the support group have inspired thousands of others within the Somerset area and beyond to get active and help the bears.
We were delighted when, in 2006, Lee decided to make a trip to see the bears in China and had a chance to see 2 very special bears, Somerset and Quantock, named in honor of the tireless fundraising which this wonderful band of volunteers are involved in.
Animals Asia would like to extend a very special thank you to Lee Gibbins, her wonderful husband Eric and all the members of the Moon Bear Rescue support group in Somerset for helping us to work towards our goal of ending bear farming forever.
