World Animal Day Report 2010
Xi’an Red Guava Companion Animal Protection Center: Xi’an, Shanxi Province, China
The ancient city of Xi’an was pouring with rain on 10 October 2010, but this did not stop the volunteers coming together to celebrate World Animal Day. Xi’an Red Guava Companion Animal Protection Center and Animals Asia Foundation held an award ceremony for winners of the “Sharing Love with Them” photo competition in the downtown area, and more than 100 volunteers and students from four university student groups joined the event.
The students recited the poem, “Eulogy of a Dog” – which attendees found very moving. Also Jianghong, the founder of Xi’an Red Guava Companion Animal Protection Center gave out awards to special supporters who had adopted stray dogs and cats from the shelter.
