years ago this April, Jill Robinson first walked onto a bear bile farm. On that day in April 1993, Jill could have walked away, but she chose to act and do what she could. Today, you also have a choice. If everyone reading this donated just US$20, it would pay for the care of over 150 bears at our China sanctuary for a full year. Please help us celebrate 20 years of progress. Donate US$20 today (or whatever you can afford).
After the roller coaster year that followed the horrific March 2008 rescue, 10 survivors have made the long journey of rehabilitation into enclosures and into groups.
These bears have taken each step of their journey at their own pace. We have watched, learned and enjoyed from them as they have travelled that challenging road. Their journey still continues; their confidence still grows and there will be other friends to make and other disputes to resolve in the future. But their lives have been enhanced and we as a team have much satisfaction when we look at them now and remember that fateful night last year when they arrived.
To share their individual journeys and to see what you have helped bring about, please view the "Spring 2008 Rescue" and "Watermelon-Wilfred" photo albums here.
And to those bears who made it for a time but just recently left us Tanja and Haribo though their time in the sun was brief, they spent their final months in peace, no longer tortured and frightened, but safe and secure in an environment they had come to trust, surrounded by people dedicated only to their care.
