Nanning Stray Cats: Nanning, Guangxi province, China
On 30 October 2010, Nanning Stray Cats in Nanning, Guangxi Province, held a successful WAD celebration, including an award ceremony for winners of the “Sharing Love with Them” photo contest. Ten winners were awarded a medal, cup and certificate, and other prizes.
More than 400 residents attended the ceremony, some with their companion animals. They enjoyed looking at the photos and hearing the lovely stories of the photo contest winners. We were encouraged to see some stray cats find new homes!
People learned more about caring for their pets by joining the Q&A games. They also enjoyed free vet consultations and vaccination for their dogs on site, as well as gaining knowledge from the awareness display boards and leaflets. All the dogs too enjoyed their games and played happily together.
Volunteers did a great job organising the event, collecting donations to help more stray animals, and teaching the public to “care for animals”. The students from Guangxi Art College presented a musical performance for the attendees adding warmth to the event.
