We were joined on the day by former World No 1 doubles player and Davis Cup representative Sandon Stolle (pictured here, signing our banner and also with Margaret, David Keogh and Moonie) and members of the Australia-China Friendship Society of NSW lead by Secretary Margaret Kelly. Willoughby Mayor, Cr Pat Reilly was on hand to announce the winners of the tournament which raised over $2,100 for Animals Asia.
It never ceases to amaze us when people give up their time to help the bears, and one group that deserves special mention is the team from Tennis Valley who baked, decorated, sourced prizes, distributed posters, sold raffle tickets and a whole host of other things to make the day such a success. Our heartfelt thanks to David Keogh, Anna Cosio, Kerry Rymer, Susan Allen, Sandy Davoren, Kit Myers, Mark Heers, Mike Hartnell, Tania Duffy, Johnny Walker and Tony Vaccher for all their hard work.
Special thanks must also go to the sponsors of the event – Ultimate Sign Installations, Running Bare, Star City Casino and Deegan's Printers – and to Animals Asia volunteers, Siaw-Yean Sy Woon (who was our Moonie for the day) and Leslie Spitz, for helping to man the Animals Asia stall.
This event was a great example of people doing what they love (tennis) for a cause they believe in (bears).
