years ago this April, Jill Robinson first walked onto a bear bile farm. On that day in April 1993, Jill could have walked away, but she chose to act and do what she could. Today, you also have a choice. If everyone reading this donated just US$20, it would pay for the care of over 150 bears at our China sanctuary for a full year. Please help us celebrate 20 years of progress. Donate US$20 today (or whatever you can afford).
Our wonderful supporter Cats, recently put out a call for sponsorship of her half-marathon run in aid of the Moon Bear Rescue. Thank you to all who responded with donations, and a huge thanks to Cats from all of us at Animals Asia for her unswerving support.
Cats describes the challenge:
On Sunday morning, 5 July, just before the sun came up, I stood in my Animals Asia sleeveless T-shirt in the six-degree wind and waited for the Gold Coast half-marathon to start.
As I ran the first 11kilometers, I remembered each and every one of you who sponsored me and I had a huge smile on my face knowing that the $2,100 plus that we raised together would help feed and take care of our beloved moon bears.
The smile had probably faded a little by the 17th kilometer as the thought of knee replacement surgery entered my mind, but the thrill of running over the finish line in a little over two hours was well worth it.
As the saying goes: "The pain will go away but the achievement will stay forever". Can't wait to do it all again soon!
