years ago this April, Jill Robinson first walked onto a bear bile farm. On that day in April 1993, Jill could have walked away, but she chose to act and do what she could. Today, you also have a choice. If everyone reading this donated just US$20, it would pay for the care of over 150 bears at our China sanctuary for a full year. Please help us celebrate 20 years of progress. Donate US$20 today (or whatever you can afford).
Hong Kong musicians and friends support the Moon Bear Rescue
On 3 November 2010, over one hundred Hong Kong supporters enjoyed a great night out, with fun and music as Hong Kong musicians donated their time and talent to help the moon bears.
Local musicians, John Prymmer (lead singer of “Don’t Panic”), acoustic duo “Papancha” and singer Jeremy Nunns, busked for the bears at our special pre-Christmas fundraiser at the fantastic Italian restaurant and bar, La Baita.
Papancha members, Cory and Stuart, playing their original songs.
Hong Kong supporters turn out in strength to support the bears.
La Baita kindly provided the venue and sponsored the event with complimentary drinks and canapés, and our huge thanks go to them for an event that wouldn’t have happened without their support.
The highlight of the night was the arrival of a surprise guest, the wonderful Virginia McKenna OBE, who inspired and fostered Jill’s passion for helping animals from when she was a child and who is now our UK patron. Jill and Virginia had just returned from Vietnam, where they had spent time with Vietnamese officials investigating illegal bear farms.
The night ended with a fantastic raffle, and thanks to all of our generous sponsors, there were some very happy winners.
Our special Christmas bear Woodley and his friends will have a big Christmas gift this year thanks to the musicians, and our friends and sponsors who came along and supported this event with such enthusiasm.
