years ago this April, Jill Robinson first walked onto a bear bile farm. On that day in April 1993, Jill could have walked away, but she chose to act and do what she could. Today, you also have a choice. If everyone reading this donated just US$20, it would pay for the care of over 150 bears at our China sanctuary for a full year. Please help us celebrate 20 years of progress. Donate US$20 today (or whatever you can afford).
Animal Planet one-hour special on the work of Animals Asia,
In late 2006, Animal Planet spent time on-site with us in Chengdu shooting a one-hour special, "Moon Bears Journey to Freedom". This exciting documentary, directed by a dear friend of Animals Asia, Libby Halliday, showcases the growing support in China sparked by our work to end bear farming and is a wonderful in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the daily trials and tribulations involved in the rescue and rehabilitation of these beautiful bears.
The English version is narrated by bear lover Stephen Fry, who very kindly donated his fee to Animals Asia, and we are forever grateful to him for his generosity of spirit.
Since it's first screening last summer, we have had an absolutely phenomenal response from existing supporters and from a great numer of people who had never before heard of the bear bile industry. The film has been screened across Asia, Europe, Australia and New Zealand and continues to be repeated on a regular basis, each time generating new interest and new support.
Animal Planet gave us special permission to make a DVD of the show and we are extremely grateful to Animal Planet, Oak3 Films and the EDB Singapore for this permission. A very generous donor sponsored the production of these DVDs and in the past year we have sent out over 30,000 copies to supporters, as a small token of our gratitude.
We never forget that this journey has only been made possible through the fantastic support of our donors and would love to send a copy of the film to each and every one. Unfortunately, our supply of DVDs is now almost finished, and we cannot do a reprint without the help of another generous donor to cover the expense involved. Please watch this space for updates, and in the meantime, watch out for the programme on Animal Planet.
