Animals Asia's annual Honey Money Days are here again — so join the fun by holding your own events throughout May or June!
This year we're also calling on schools across the globe to host an event under the Honey Money Days umbrella. What could be sweeter than students learning about endangered moon bears while raising money and awareness for Animals Asia's campaign to stop bear bile farming?
What is a Honey Money Day?
Very simply, they are days on which anybody can host their own fundraising event in honour of our bears. It could be anything from a dinner party to a bake sale, to an art auction — it's up to you! Just think of something you and your friends and family like doing and factor in a way to raise money. We've put together a list of suggestions for you, but the sky is the limit! School activities can also be included, and the possibilities are endless — your contribution could be as simple as putting out a honey pot for donations, charging a donation to dress in yellow and black for the day (just like the bears) or baking some sweet treats to sell.
Last year our goal was to raise funds for enrichment items for our rescued bears, including building some great cub-size equipment for the new Cub House enclosures at our Vietnam rescue centre.
In January 2012, our first set of cubs moved into the finished house and were released into the enclosures for the first time in their young lives! Click on the video to watch the first group of four small cubs take their first steps on grass.
Honey Money Days target, 2012
To date, Animals Asia has rescued 381 bears from bear farms. As our bears cannot be released back into the wild, we are raising funds in 2012 to furnish our new enclosures in Vietnam with toys and equipment that keep their minds and bodies active.

All of these items contribute to the enrichment of the bears' environment and are essential to keep them healthy and happy and help them to put their horrific pasts behind them.
In Vietnam, we have a new bear house nearing completion and its double-enclosure will need all new climbing equipment, pools and toys.
Please help us reach our target of US$15,000 so that we can rehabilitate more bears that have spent years in cages, many of them virtually immobile.
There are many different ways you can help — throw a party and charge entrance, do a sponsored walk/run/swim/skydive! Get your friends and colleagues involved and hold a sports event or a beach day! From simple get-togethers to big events, the sky's the limit — there is no restriction on your imagination or ingenuity! And you can hold more than one event!
Please help us complete the development of these new bear enclosures so that these beautiful, deserving bears can experience peace and freedom once again — with roomy dens to live in and beautiful semi-natural enclosures full of enrichment, to lead them gently back to life.
