How to help?
Why do moon bears need help? What is the bear rescue?
Home What is a moon bear?

The "China Bear Rescue" also needs your support. Here are several ideas of how you could help with your class.

  •   Inform your students about the "China Bear Rescue", bear-farming etc. Use all the information you can get on this site (check also the files for children to download!) and the following sources:

    www.animalsasia.org
    www.hensonrobinsonzoo.org/z001.html
    www.bears.org/animals/asiatic
    www.earthtrust.org/bear.html

  •   Encourage a student to give a talk about a Moon Bear within a series of talks the students have to prepare.
  •   Organize a school-wide campaign to rescue the bears with your class. Find ideas in how to help?
  •   Encourage your class to visit the Bear Necessities Catalog to find out all about the things that the Moon Bears need to recover - they can even befriend one or more rescued bears while there and receive a photo of their rescued bear in a beautiful frame.
  •   Teach a whole unit on bears worldwide. The Asiatic Black Bear would be one part of the unit, including the campaign the "China Bear Rescue".
  •

  •   Find fact sheets at: www.peta-online.org/mc/facts.html
  •   In case you teach lower grades you could tell the story of Winnie the Pooh, or tales about bears and the moon and then continue with the fact that Moon Bears exist, why they are called Moon Bears and why they need help.
  •   Check create change to get ideas how animal abuse can be stopped through daily changes everyone can make in everyday life. Discuss the examples in class.
  •   Discuss other issues on animal protection.
  •   Suggestion for a game (lower grades)
