組織背景 亞洲動物基金乃香港政府註冊慈善團體，以終止虐待動物，宣揚愛護動物為使命。亞洲動物基金的項目包括極具創意的動物治療計劃《狗醫生》，超過三百多位狗醫生，遍及香港、中國、菲律賓、日本、印度、台灣及馬來西亞，在多個國家提供動物治療服務，牠們探訪醫院、養老院、殘疾人仕和孤兒院等，為人們帶來無比的愛心和溫暖，盡情體現了伴侶動物社會的貢獻。我們的狗大使同時亦肩負起教育的工作，《狗教授》教育計劃，主要服務香港的小學，創新將英語與動物結合起來。除了幫助孩子提高英語的閱讀和寫作能力外，狗教授還可以激發兒童熱愛學習及自信，同時鼓勵學員愛護動物。《狗教授》教育計劃的中文版本亦分別在2008年及2009年拓展至廣州及成都。 Background Animals Asia Foundation – a registered charity headquartered in Hong Kong – runs a number of projects, including our innovative animal-therapy programme, Dr Dog. Dr Dog sees over 350 “dog doctors” visiting hospitals, homes for the elderly, disabled centres and orphanages across Hong Kong, mainland China, the Philippines, Japan, India, Taiwan and Malaysia, spreading unconditional love and warmth to people in need, while highlighting the positive role that companion animals can play in society. Our volunteer dogs also take on the role of teachers in our “Professor Paws” project, which is operating in Hong Kong schools. Special hands-on lessons are designed to improve the children’s English-language skills and confidence, while encouraging children to care for animals. A Chinese-language version of Professor Paws launched in Guangzhou (China’s notorious dog and cat eating capital) in 2008 and Chengdu in 2009.
